On December 5 – 18 2009, nations from across the world will meet in Copenhagen at the 15th annual Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, also known as the UNFCCC COP15, or simply COP15, to negotiate a new global climate change treaty.

This agreement will set the course for international action on climate change after the first phase of the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012.

Alongside youth from across the world, the University of Toronto will be sending a delegation to participate at the Copenhagen negotiations.  This is where YOU come in.

If you’re interested in the following, then please consider applying to join the delegation:

*   Engaging the UofT community in issues surrounding climate change
*   Advancing the role of “campuses” in the climate movement
*   reporting on the negotiations using a variety of media to provide an accessible update to Canadians at home
*   conducting academic work (students  interested in this independent coursework option should discuss with relevant professors well in advance of departure)
*   Networking with other groups, including youth groups, aboriginal groups, small island and developing states, and other delegations from Canada.
*   Supporting small island delegation negotiators who have limited negotiating capacity compared to larger more prosperous countries.

In addition to the student delegates going to Copenhagen, the delegation will have roles for students here at U of T. This Campus Delegation is the link between the delegation in Copenhagen and the larger UofT community.

Students who are not interested or able to go to Copenhagen are encouraged to apply to join the Campus Delegation.
Here is the application : Please email submissions to david.powell(at) utoronto.ca
