March for Fossil Fuel Divestment!!
This semester, the University of Toronto will make a decision on whether to divest its $2.1 billion endowment from the fossil fuel industry.
After 3 years of vibrant and vocal student campaigning, this is it: it’s time for the University of Toronto to act.
If it’s wrong to wreck the climate, then it’s wrong to profit from that wreckage. It’s time for the university to stop investing millions of dollars in dirty oil and gas companies which are driving climate change, and start investing in a safe, liveable future for all of us.
With world leaders meeting in Paris this December to negotiate a global response to the climate crisis, there couldn’t be a more important time for the University of Toronto to make this decision — and send an important signal to the world that it’s time to move beyond fossil fuels, and toward a clean, renewable future.
On October 29, students, faculty, alumni and community members will march together through the University of Toronto campus to demand loud and clear: the university must divest from fossil fuels, and invest in our future.
Without a loud, widespread and diverse campus movement to stop climate catastrophe, the University of Toronto will not take action. Please join us. Invite 3 friends to come with you, and march with us on October 29.
